If you aren’t familiar with the term “Sandwich Generation”, you should learn it. It’s the term used to describe the adult child who is not only caring for her own children but also an aging parent or parents. My mother was diagnosed with dementia when I was pregnant with my second child. I knew that Justine would be the hardest for her to remember, and at the beginning of this photo session, Mom forgot her for the first time.
But what Mom still has, even when she can’t remember why that adorable little girl is there, is her unconditional love for children. She’s drawn to them, instinctively. So I take comfort in the fact that no matter what, she’ll always love my girls.
